I hate job interviews

I have an interview tomorrow for a job that I really really want. There are 18 places but loads of people going for it. The good thing is that my mum did this job about 10 years ago and really made a name for herself within the department, hopefully that will rub off on them some how. My main problem is that although I know all the right things to say my mind goes blank on the day. Im reading this really great interview book but Im just hoping I dont forget about it tomorrow. Another thing is there are going to be basic literary and numeracy tests which Im starting to panic about. Silly really as I have a 2:1 in a science based degree, its just that im not great with numbers. Does anybody have any top tips for me? Or just general support… Im lacking in confidence at the mo’, which isn’t like me at all. Thank you peeps

Ps mods, I know this belongs in the careers sub-forum but could you please leave it in genchat until tomorrow? Thanks.
Nobody?? :frown:

Try not to think about the interview so much. You got the skills needed for the job you just need to convince them your the right person. Just be yourself, thats all you can do.

Why are you nervous? The worst possible thing that can happen is that you don't get the job. Just imagine yourself in someone elses shoes who are in a worse situation than yourself. Like the war in Iraq, or what happened in russia recently. Stuff like that really opens my eyes and i laugh at myself if i'm ever nervous.

Also, have you ever tried meditating? Just it up via google.com, that can also help.

If that doesn't help. Imagine your interviewers being naked!
Good luck

Remember that its not the end of the world if you don't get the job. So don't clam up through fear of failure. The more relaxed you are the better.

Also, if you're going to have to speak a lot take a clipboard or a folder with a list of things you want to talk about. Nothing worse than coming out of an iv then realising you forgot to mention something.

I didnt know you could take prepared notes into an interview... I'll try that. thanks
