have you tried crest whitestrips? they're really effective although i'm not sure you can get them in england. as you can probably tell by the product name, they're strips instead of trays so you can adjust the strips to go as high on your teeth as you want and target the desired areas.

i got it last year, i was told by my dentist nit to put the gel in bottom of the tray but on the middle of the teeth on the tray, and only a tiny blob cos when u put he tray in ur mouth it presses the tiny blob over the individual teeth evenly. also, i have tried every percentage of gel, starting with 15, going to 25, and back to 10, and believe it or not the best one is he 10 percent. also i was told by my dentist to keep it in for at least 4 hours, preferably all night, but i soon discovered he keeping it in exacly 4 hours my teeth came up much brighter!
and yes it is sooo sore!! i used it everynight for a full 2 weeks till i was saticfied. couldn breathe with he pain! but it soon went away. sounds like ur using way too much gel, it shouldnt even be touching ur gums, my sis had this problem and its cos she used too much, try just putting a small blob on the middle of the tooth on the tray and c how it goes!!xx
Hmmm ok interesting stuff here. Well i work at an Orthodontic and talking from experience 16% is more then enought o whiten your teeth. Of course a lot depends on what shade you are after. In terms of trays if you buy strange whiteners of ebay etc.. they come with a default tray which is a risky method to go for as it can cause seriosu damage to gums, what is recommended is to ask your dentist how much it would cost to get retainers made for your perfect fit ( You need retainers with a gap for the whitening gel). In most cases a max of £60.00 for the retainers should do the job. We tend to charge £ 250.00 for the whole kit including custom retainers and the tooth whitening with a 16% concentration.
It’s always better for everyone to take a demo of filling process in bleaching trays from their dentists. This can keep you away from any filling trouble.
I use 'brilliant teeth whitening' gel, its quite good but tastes awful :/
