    Okay to calculate the unknown enthalpy change in a born haber cycle ( constructed as energy level diagram) i know that sum of anticlockwise arrows= sum of clockwise arrows. However, when the second electron affinity is involved, it suppose to be on the anti clockwise side, but its taken on the clockwise side, why is that??

    It's not "supposed" to be on any specific side.

    The BH cycle is just that, a cycle. The energy change going from one point to another is the same regardless of the route taken (Hess' law)
