    Hi there!

I have moved your post to a brand new thread, in order to get more replies

No, absolutely not! Unless the policy has ended. Disconnecting the black box voids the insurance, and the insurance will be notified of the disconnected state of the black box. They will then, more than likely, cancel the policy.

Following on from RoyalSheepy's post, you also need to make sure your uncle is insured to drive your car.

Note that comprehensive insurance doesn't always include "driving other vehicles" cover, so even if he has comprehensive insurance he needs to check his policy.

Not only will he be in trouble for driving without insurance, you can also be at risk of prosecution for allowing the use of the car by someone without insurance.

I agree with RoyalSheepy and @martin7, this isn't something you'll allowed to do.

Why would you want to disconnect it anyway?

Probably to remove it's main purpose: limiting miles, tracking speed, .etc.
