I'm currently in year 12 and my sixth form requires us to do work experience at the end of this year. At uni I think I want to do biomedical sciences (eventually working in the labs when I'm older) but I don't know what work experience would be best for this. I've thought about trying to get some in a hospital, however I don't really know how to do this, shall I go in & ask or just send an email?
Also what else can I do to enhance my ucas application? I've done bronze dofe, ncs & I help mentor some students in the lower years & I'm reading a biology book but I don't know what else I can do to help make my application stand out a bit more.
As you can see I'm pretty clueless... Any help would be much appreciated, thank you

I phoned and emailed about 100 places (gp's and nursing homes). the like 97th one took me lol.

For hospitals just an email the doctors/surgeons directly telling them a bit about yourself maybe attach a cv or something but personalise it a bit so if their say a cardiac surgeon mention in the email that your interested in doing a work placement in the cardiac department etc.
