    Why is this? Is the stereotype about mathmos wrong - are they in fact lazy layabouts who live in pubs, while arts students never leave libraries?

    Because the arts subjects dish out more 2.1s. You can’t really take from that that mathmos live in pubs

    Probably because many companies just look at graduates’ grades rather than taking into consideration the university. Stupid companies thinking a 2.1 from London met is the same a 2.1 from Cambridge. The guys at Cambridge for arts think they should inflate grades, whereas the stem guys haven’t
