So, England seem to be doing well in the World Cup for a change, the U17 side beat Brazil 3-1 to reach the final. What are your thoughts? Is the future of English football bright?

The players in the current national team aren't that bad. It's just an extremely boring, cautious brand of football with absolutely no energy. Also, bad decisions seem to be taken by the management going into tournaments. An example is Rooney starting during the Euros when he was clearly past it.

The youth teams have done quite well this year:

U21s: Semifinals of the Euros (losing on penalties to the eventual winners)
    U20s: World Cup Champions
    U19s: Euros Champions
    U18s: Toulon Tournament Champions
    U17s: World Cup Final

The youth teams have looked really promising this year; St. George's Park seems to be paying off. Hopefully, the players can keep playing well and eventually find their way into the senior team.

It is a football (soccer) tournament governed by FIFA. It composes of 24 international football teams with 21 players who were born on or after the 1st January 2000 (hence the name FIFA U17 World Cup).

The 24 teams are split into 6 groups of 4 - with each team playing each other once. The two teams who do the best in the group progress to the quat=rter finals. From there whoever wins goes through to the next round and whoever loses goes home.

The game you watched this morning was Brazil vs Mali in the third-place play-off.

I'd rather watch these boys than the senior team in Russia next year. Exciting prospects such as Foden and Angel Gomes plus Sancho, who oddly wasn't involved.

Yeah definitely they should put some of them on the senior team if that's allowed.
