Hello. I’m studying Higher English this year after obtaining an A in N5.

Just a question to anyone who’s been very successful in this course, what tips do you have on getting an A?

I’m really stressed out.

How many texts should I study for the critical essay etc?

If you got an A in N5, its a v good start. Getting an A in higher is a piece of cake if you put the effort in! Quotes are your best friend. Memorise as many as possible. For close reading, memorise key terms and how to structure your answer. 4 marks = 4 separate points or 2 very well developed ones. In terms of critical essay, I studied 2 texts. Just to ensure I had a back up choice. But make sure the one you are most confident on, is practised the most. I recommend doing poetry. Don't stress out about it!
