Teaching the information to a family member and having them quiz you on it can be really helpful

I agree! Making your own quiz and having others test you helps. Also, after that don’t just put it away, do it again and again until you know it inside and out... then do it one more time. Knowing and understanding stuff well will do you wonders in an exam. Personally I find flashcards the best way to remember stuff but find a way that works for you!

applying your knowledge rather than doing mindmaps and flashcards might be the way to go (you can do exam questions etc.) but it depends on your style of learning

would you say you’re a visual learner, an audio learning or something completely different?

it’s good to try lots of different things and see what works for you!
