Don’t know how many people know about this on here but this year the law has now changed to anyone and everyone HAS to stay in education until they are 18. So for someone like me who was looking to get an apprenticeship for the experience and extra CV content it has meant there is huge pressure on the recruitment agencies, I mean this in terms of the years before you would have had a fraction of school leavers go straight into work and still want to just work so the closest they can get to that is to get an apprenticeship. It’s probably doubled if not tripled the amount of people applying for apprenticeships. Do you think this was a good move on the government? Coming from someone who is without trying to sound vein but a better candidate for a lot of these positions (I have my reasons to this which I can’t be bothered to explain) is it just bad luck or could my lack of job replies be because of the law change?

Everyone has to stay in some sort of education, whether it be Sixth Form / Colleges or apprenticeships. So i think you may be slightly confused, as you're still being educated on apprenticeships, through tutorials/one to one sessions with tutors or attending classes.

The point I’m making is in previous years once student left school they were allowed to just get jobs, they were free of education however they now have to stay in education which I believe is either college, university or apprenticeships.

Which just backs my point even more. There is an even larger amount of people being forced to apply for apprenticeships because they don’t want to go college or uni and can’t apply for jobs because of the new laws. The government once again are trying to fix somoething that isn’t broken!
