    Hello lovely TSR people!

I'm interested to hear the details/stories from any PhDs that have applied to and hopefully been accepted for GEM anywhere in the UK. In particular, I'd be very curious about whether your interviews focussed more or less on your research.

    Thanks so much!

This is not from experience but I suspect they will want to know a bit about your research but more about skills gained and of course work experience that's relevant. Remember that you have a limited amount of time with your interviewers and will still be doing undergrad medicine so they will expect maturity and life experience but you're applying to do the same course as an undergrad.

Most GEM courses use MMI (multiple mini interviews) format, which focus on a particular task or topic per station, the stations last around 6-10 minutes and there are usually 6-8 stations. One of these stations may be about previous education which is probably the best opportunity you will get to discuss your PhD and the research you did - but I think it would be best to discuss (if possible) it's clinical relevance. I don't think interviewers would be that impressed or bothered about listening to research from something unrelated.
