just passed my test, question about insurance Watch

    so i passed my driving test first time this morning! i'm just wondering about insurance as obviously i'd like to start driving asap but my birthday is on tuesday and i turn 21. should i wait till then to sort out my insurance? will me turning 21 bring it down slightly? thanks

    I did the same thing I waited till I was 21 and the insurance went down by £600!!! Definitely wait

    It's a common misconception that there are fixed thresholds when premiums suddenly drop - it's actually a sliding scale, which drastically gets cheaper from 17 to 18, then a little slower from 18 to 21, then even slower from 21 to 25, at which point they begin to level out (until old age, when the bell curve goes the other way again).

    I'd hazard a guess that in your situation, the several months you waited while holding a licence meant that you hadn't just passed your test, and therefore had significantly less risk associated with you.

    Have a look at ingenie. Tbh driving is a liability before you're 25, since insurance is a lot cheaper after this period.
