Hi guys, this is my first post so I hope to find the answers I'm looking for. Let me start everything from the beginning. I'm now 20 years old and I moved to the uk with my parents 2 years ago from Italy. Because the college where I went couldn't validate my Italian qualifications, the only choice I had was to do a level 2 btec business course and so I did it. I also had to take the English and math lessons. At the end of the course I received C in both subjects and merit merit at the level 2 business. For the summer I went to Italy and came back to the uk end of September and both colleges of my current city have closed the application windows so now I don't really know what to do. Both colleges said to find an apprenticeship, work 4 days and go to college 1. But the problem is that I don't have any experience besides my experience working as a waiter 4 days a week but I'd love to find an apprenticeship so that I could earn some money, get a qualification and get skills at the same time. What are some good apprenticeships I could do without having any experience that could lead me to progress into a higher position in the industry?

    Hey Sam!
I am really sorry to hear about this! Firstly don't panic! It might seem bad but it is not really THAT bad.
I would advise you to contact the universities for help with apprenticeships or use good old google as there are plenty of schemes out there.
Also, have you considered taking a gap year and applying next one? Find a full-time job and get some work experience as it would be helpful in the future? As the applications have closed there is nothing you can do really. Also, do have a look at some part-time courses?
I hope my answer help you a bit!
    Take care!

Which industry are you trying to get into?

Apprenticeships are amazing. I knew a guy who got an apprenticeship making engines, he's on a mega salary now, like 6 figures srs. He went straight from school I think? He was only 16 when he started it if I remember correctly.

Thank you for your answer. I wouldn't mind to take a gap year as long as I find an apprenticeship but the main question is: is there any chance to get into a level 3 or even level 2 apprenticeship without having any experience within that certain industry?

Well, I'm a very simple person, I'm not trying to be a millionaire or anything, obviously it would be better to make more money but I would be happy enough to do an apprenticeship now and make about 20k once I'm qualified. I'm looking something within the construction industry. Do you think employers would employ me as an apprentice without having any experience within the construction industry?

I'm pretty sure the construction industry is more than happy to hire high school dropouts and ex-cons, don't worry about school. Are you talking like being a laborer or tiler or something? You just do a college course for things like tiling, you can go self-employed even.
