Hello I really struggle in English and I was wondering if you have any tips for english literature. Also I know exam practice is key but I've done every practice paper and specimen paper available for this new GCSE so I'm wondering if someone could provide me the questions and the extract they did in the summer in English literature. Don't worry Iv'e already done my mocks( got 6's in english lit and lang), I just want to improve my exam technique.
I do Macbeth, Frankenstein, Inspector Calls, Love and relationships poetry and obviously unseen poetry with the AQA exam board. Thank you

For English lit I did Inspector calls , Romeo and Juliet and power + conflict poems so I can therefore only advise u on perhaps that easier book - An Inspector Calls

The question given ,well it was a choice of2, the one I did was "how does the inspector influence the play as a whole " which tbh was relatively easy since we were the first yr on this exam.
The other question was how does mrs Birling influence the characters with the play especially Eva Smith?

For my essay I found using Mr Bruff for the simple quotes e.g "Pink+Intimate" , brighter and harder, the germans don't want war, you turn her away, yes and you killed her" and my all time fave " we are members of 1 body we r responsible for each other"

I analysed the inspector by including a large amount of context about Priestly to suggest that his mouthpiece is the Inspector so therefore brushing up on his key ideals about socialism really helps.

The poems although I did power and conflict require u to know a few quotes from every poem and some context - but I basically chose 3 of my best poems that can be analysed with any poem in the anthology so that my analysis of the second poem would give me a better shot if I was unsure about the question or 1 they gave us.

The examiner is mainly looking for an original but also generic view of analysis- as they are looking for certain things which are obvious but also for things that other students may miss out on.

If u want more in depth advice - please ask

Don't worry too much as throughout yr 10 and 11 , I was getting 4s,5s and a handful of 6s but luckily in the exam the questions were based more on my strengths so I ended up with 8s
If the examiner likes alternative interpretation then you can also get a lot of marks for this but often your school doesn't always know exactly how to mark since min proved this

Good luck and for more in depth info don't hesitate to quote me a question
