Why there are so many socities and clubs in unis such as "Women for Engineering, computer science, science"

I have never seen or heard socities for boys like "Men for History, English, Languages, Geography etc" Are there any?

*This post is not meant to be offensive for somebody, but everybody knows that are more women in humanities (in most cases).*

I think because it is seen as more important to try and get women interested in those jobs compared to getting men interested in humanities. Also, and I might be wrong, isn't there a shortage of engineers and people in IT? That could play a part in trying to get women interested, to increase the workforce.
