UK grades and US GPA

Does anyone feel that the grade in UK looks relatively lower than those US colleges?

I got my Part III math degree at Cambridge with distinction (75%), it looks quite good, but when I completed the WES evaluation it was just equivalent to a US GPA 3.7/4. Considering the 3.9+/4 is a very common GPA in US, how can we compete with those tier1 US college graduates?

Find a free text point in the application to write something like 'top x% in the cohort', which scales any grading system to a better reference point.
