Hello there! So basically are there any people well informed about the med school requirements in the UK for Nigerian students? I plan on taking 3 A levels in my A2 year but i have not taken and do not plan to take the GCSEs. Can I apply to med schools with just my A level results and the aptitude tests or is the GCSE absolutely necessary for getting into UK med schools?

Do you do something instead of GCSEs or are you just skipping them?

No GCSEs at all. Only examinations I plan to take here in Nigeria are the WASSCE and NECO, which I will then use to apply for A levels alongside my transcript. If I found out that GCSEs were necessary for a competitive application however, I would have no problem finding a registered centre here to write the exams. I'm just a little worried about doing that because it's a different curriculum.

You should contact universities and ask what they think. I'm an international student and I did my national qualifications which consisted of only A2 equivalent exams so I didn't have GCSEs or anything like that. For me it wasn't a problem but your situation could be different since you're doing A levels which are kind of "attached" to GCSEs.
