Is it absolutely necessary to compare two poems in Section B of the Edexcel A-level English Literature Poetry exam? According to the mark scheme, only AOs 1, 2 and 3 are assessed (AO4 is for comparison of texts), yet I've seen specimen mark schemes which say that students can compare poems, e.g. Keats, with other ones. Ideally, I would like to be in the top band, so is this more feasible if I make comparisons or not?
