My teachers are saying that in year 12 you need to read around the A level specification since it will help in exams, is this necessary to obtain the highest marks or is the textbook enough? Especially in the sciences?
BTW, I'm not talking about wider reading for Uni applications.

I don't think its essential, I'm in my second year of a levels and last year my teachers told us to read around the subject, I didn't and still did well, getting AAB in my exams. I don't think its essential its just something you can do to increase your understanding and something you may wang to do if a topic interests you, and it is also helpful for uni applications!
