Hi, this is a bit of a stupid question but I'm just interested in the answer.
Could I change all the 'and's in my personal statement in &'s, this would save so many characters!!? But it seems like everyone would do it if it was something you could do. Do universities not like it or does it make your statement look stupid or something?

I would look at why you are using so many ands, perhaps you could shorten sentences in places to cut down on words.

I think it would make your statement look a lot less formal and like you weren't as good at writing/ English so if I were you I would keep the ands. It only saves 2 characters at a time and I know that adds up over he whole thing but I'm sure there are other ways you can cut down - good luck!
