Had this annoying headache since thursday

Since Thursday morning I've had this stabbing headache just above my right eye which kind of radiates outwards to the rest of my head. It's made it very difficult for me to focus on anything and I haven't been able to get much work done. I've taken sumatriptan, paracetamol, and ibuprofen but none got rid of it. I've tried sleeping but that didn't help either. Anything else I can do?

Visit the GP?

It's Sunday and I meant more stuff I can do at home to try and get rid of it myself. By the time I get a GP appointment it'll have gone...hopefully.

do you wear glasses? both me and my brother had really bad headaches (similar to how you described, at least for me) before we got glasses, but there could of course be other reasons

How much water have you drunk?

Not drinking water can cause headaches.

Does it improve when you lie down??
How much time have you spent looking at screens? How much water have you drunk? Have you been focused on one thing for a long time?

Just sounds like a migraine. Three days is unusual but not unknown.

You need to rest dark room and manage to eat something but avoid any known trigger factors. I would also suggest having an ice cold bath or shower plus keep hitting the tablets.

It sounds too far advanced for the sumatriptan or 50mg to have had an effect. Do you have any more? How much have you taken in total? If you cant sleep then go for a walk. You just have to tough it out. If you feel nauseous then throw up and also a good idea to stop watching screens.

I wasn't sure if it hurt enough to be a migraine tbh but it hurts when I move my head so mostly I've been trying to keep as still as possible. Just took a break from the computer to go to the supermarket and the bright lights made it worse so maybe a migraine but I don't know.

I took half a 100mg sumatriptan tablet yesterday and have the other half left.
Seek medical advice.

Then why would you have sumatriptan which is still an expensive and specialist drug?

I just took it to be a migraine from the one sided above the eye.

You need to rest and stop looking at screens. A cold bath will get your temperature down.

See how you feel tomorrow and if you feel nauseous then throwing up takes some of it away. If it hasnt lessened by tomorrow then o and see your GP.

what are the other symptoms other than a stabbing headache above my right eye? do you feel nauseous? it could be a migraine and it could last for a few days. But i would suggest that you visit your GP just to make sure it's nothing serious

Hopefully you're feeling better by now, but...

To help manage the pain try things like paracetamol and ibuprofen (as you already are), have a warm bath, don't look at any bright screens, keep the lights dim, drink plenty of water and make sure you've had something to eat, go to bed.
If you are not feeling better when you wake up tomorrow call your surgery and ask to make an appointment with your GP. Describe your issue and ask if it's appropriate to get an urgent appointment.

Headaches like this can be a sign of significant issues so you should get it checked. If you are given the all clear by the doc or are feeling better by tomorrow make an appointment with an optician for an eye test. This sort of pain can also be caused by eye strain or similar.
Don't freak out or worry about it, but do get it checked.
