I am doing a levels currently, and would like to look into Dentistry. I have looked online and I am still unsure of how to go about it. Can you do undergraduate dentistry and if so which unis are good for this. If not what do you do as a undergraduate before post graduate dentistry?

If you're doing A levels I assume you're from the UK, so yes you can do undergrad Dentistry. You'll need science A levels: chemistry and biology are pretty much essential, and you'll need to sit the UKCAT for some universities if not all. If you don't have science A levels, it may be possible to do undergrad dentistry with a foundation year, but I'm not sure which Unis offer this. Postgrad dentistry is also doable, most schools require a 2:1 or above in a science related degree I believe, biomedical sciences, biochemistry or similar. However, grad entry dentistry is more competitive as there are fewer places, and is a more expensive option - also means you'll be at uni for around 7 years (3 years undergrad, 4 years postgrad), opposed to the 5 year undergrad course.

In terms of which Unis are good for dentistry, you can look at league tables for the subject but I'd take them with a pinch of salt - all dentistry degrees are checked by the GDC so it doesn't matter hugely which school you pick. But they will have different teaching styles, course structures and obviously location - so the best thing to do is research which courses look the best to you, visit the uni, and research how to put together a competitive application. Hope that helps

Yes, dentistry is an undergraduate degree. You can be admitted onto a BDS programme straight after A-Levels.

Alternatively, you could do a life sciences/biological sciences as a first degree and then get on to a graduate entry BDS programme.

Post-graduate dentistry is completely different, that is a DDS/Ph.D. degree which is done AFTER you get your BDS.
