Anyone know why buspirone is only available as a short-term treatment for anxiety in the UK?

Tried googling, got lots of links to online pharmacies.

    They probably think it's addicting.
Either way, I think it's a pretty useless drug, tried it in the past.

From what I've read, the jury's out on whether it's addictive. Just seems really strange as it takes several weeks to even kick in so if you're only gonna be treated short term what the point in that?

I take it and find it awesome.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. But NHS is really messed up tbh. Like it's so difficult to get a permanent prescription for benzos. Yet GPs are happy to dish out antidepressants at virtually everyone, it doesn't matter if you have anxiety, depression, ptsd, or low mood, just because 'they are not addictive'. It's all so pointless
