At GCSE I got 5A*s (in Bio, Chem, Physics, Spanish, History), two 8s (in English Language and Maths), one 7 (in English Lit) and one B (in Media). So essentially, is it right to say that I got 7A*s, 1A and 1B? Will unis see it like that?

Yes, 8s are equivalent to A*s. Generally though, formally, you should be saying the "new" grades.

OK - in that case, do you think my grades are good enough for Oxbridge?

yes your GCSEs will be absolutely fine, they couldn't really be much better. GCSEs only form part of your application, though.
