# My question is about maths watch

1. simplify 3x+5y-x+2y
2. (Original post by Hollie2005)
simplify 3x+5y-x+2y
Collect like terms.

Does that sound familiar?
3. Collect the x's and the y's
So to do that you go 3x - x (and the what that equals) plus 5y + 2y (and what this equals)
4. Simplify 3x+5y-x+2y

You have to collect both terms together. So both of the x you have to collect and both of the y and you have to add them together. (The spoilers are answers)
