If I get my desired place I may cancel it as there is an apprenticeship I really want to do but cannot apply until early next year. There is also a high chance I won't get this apprenticeship as it is very competitive so uni is my safety net. I am also applying for halls which requires a deposit. I understand that I may not get my deposit back if I cancel, but will I have to pay anything else?

    Thank you for reading.

Do you need to apply for halls now? I doubt it. You don't need to reply to your UCAS offers until 2nd May at the earliest, so unis can't make you apply for accommodation before then.

But yes, you can cancel your place. If it's before results day you can withdraw through UCAS, and if it's after results day then you tell the uni directly. You won't have to pay anything as long as you cancel before you go.
