1. Will runs a lucky dip stall
tickets cost 50p each
Tickets ending in 00 win £20
Tickets ending in 5 win £2
There were 850 tickets numbered 1-850
he sold ALL OF THE WINNING TICKETS and SOME OF THE LOSING TICKETS
he made a profit of £65
how many losing tickets did he sell??
2. Well if he sold all of the winning tickets then that's 8 X 00 so that's 8x 20 =£160 gone from the profits.
Then £2x 5's = £340
850/5=170
Altogether that's £340 lost from the profits.
So that means he must of made £405 from ticket sales.
8 are 00
170 are 5's
you need to have sold 810 tickets to reach £405 so subtract 810-178=632
so he must have sold 632 losing tickets.
