Hi Reema.Yes there is but it depends on your circumstances, your household income, etc. You can apply for Childcare Grant on your main SFE application form or you can do it online on the SFE website. They will then assess your eligibility and will tell you how much you are entitled to. You can only receive childcare with an approved Ofsted registered nursery or childminder.

    Hi Reema,

Yes, providing the child will live with you and is financially dependent on you during the academic year.

To enable us to calculate your entitlement to receive the Parents Learning Allowance (PLA) when the child is born you should send the following evidence to Student Finance:

    • A copy of child's birth certificate
    • A photocopy of your recent Tax Credit, Child Benefit letter or Universal Credit Award Notification

If you need help with your childcare costs you should complete the Childcare Grant Application form.

Both grants are assessed on the household income.

You will find more information within the resource pack on the Student Room, under Whay can I get and How to apply sections, here is a link,

    Thanks Rona
