    Hi,

I'm a student rep for my college and wanted to get other opinions of their respective canteens at sixth forms and FE colleges around the country.

I have just been to my college campus canteen to be served a small, lukewarm portion of ham and cheese pasta which cost £2.50 (more than half an hourly wage for someone under 18). This seems to me as a bit steep as I got no more than a polystyrene takeaway tray that only just covered the base.

How expensive is your canteen's food pricing and do you get good quality food and get what you pay for? I feel that my college is trying to make more money off food than it should be as a bag of pasta, ham and cheese does not cost that much, particularly when you split the cost between portions.

All the food at my school is free... do you not have a packed lunch option?

Yeah you can always bring your own lunch (which I do) however I sometimes still find myself hungry after. But the point is about the quality of the food and not getting what you pay for.

Many people would argue the government isn’t putting enough money into schools so the schools have to find a way to make extra money to fund education they provide.
Maybe look more into that side of it and you’ll get your answers.
