Im studying abroad and Ive been feeling progressively worse during the two months that I have been here. The university here is a disaster and I hate all my classes. I have made few friends here. I cannot sleep at night and I am constantly stressed I feel like crying and I cannot relax. One of my flatmates is crazy and has sent me abusive messages online. Ive started having outbursts in public and I sometimes get so angry I throw things and I don't know why. I cannot afford to leave and go home and I have never felt like this before and idk what to do.

Just sounds like stress, anxiety and loneliness.

Sometimes we hit hard patches, but its up to you to put a plan together to survive and then flourish.

How long will you be studying for? A term? year, whole degree?

can you just survive and hen transfer next term/ year?

Im not you but i would:

Maintain contact with friends and fanily back home via skype etc. Can any come out and visit?

Attend lectures as you are paying for them and get what you can from them. You may need additional work to keep up.

Either get a routine for being on your own and accept it or in addition make an exyta effort to socialise, even if thats with other foreign students.

Ask your flatmate to stop the messages or block her and make copies. Find an intermediary or report her to the uni if she wont stop. probably easier just to ignore. keep copies as evidence.

Eat well, go for walks, do exercise, meditate, read good books watch some films and do anything to destress. You just need to clam down a bit and sort out a way of living that gives you back some control. Some of it may be crap but believe you can make the best of it. Things can change, but they will change faster if you put your mind to it.

You cant control what happens to you, but you can control how you react. Try and take stick, make a list of changes along with a plan hen slowly improve your life. You can do it. Hang in there.

Sounds like you're feeling a bit stressed/ depressed. It's totally normal, especially in unpleasant situations, but obviously isn't something you want to keep going.
I would take a look at some sites like mind.org and sane.org for info and advice, see if your uni offers any form of support or if you can access something like counselling and consider anything you can do to reduce negative or stressful things in your life. It might be that you want to think about transferring to a different uni or taking a break.

    Hope that helps.
