    Hello,

I am wondering if can anyone explain something to me. I am working through Foundation Maths by K.A Stroud and have to questions that are confusing me. I have answered but both came back wrong for different reasons. I will explain.

Why do they get rounded down further when you evaluate them

    Q1 11/30 divide 5/6 I got 66/150 however answer was 11/25. I didnt take it further.

    Q2 5/16 - 4/3 I got -7/16 however book says -49/48, I got that but took it further but book didn't

Any reason why on some it does but other it doesnt

For Q1, they have evaluated further as 66/150 isn't in it's simplest form. There's a common factor of 6 in the numerator and denominator, so we can divide both by 6 to get 11/25. It can't be simplified further.

For Q2, you have got a different answer to the book/the correct answer. How did you do this question?
