Hello, has anyone had any experience in working with John Lewis as a student at university? I am in my second year and have just been offered a job there which is great however I do not like the hours that they have set me. It appears that I will have to work every weekend if I do decide to take up the offer. This is problematic for me because my workload at uni is seriously picking up and I have other commitments on the weekend (my boyfriend also lives in my hometown and works the whole week so the weekends are all we have) and I wouldn't be able to see my family. I don't want to sacrifice my life just for a job and have to be on the go 7 days a week. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with negotiating a more flexible contract whilst at uni or are these hours set in stone?

Big companies like John Lewis are usually not very flexible with their hours, have you tried for jobs at smaller companies?

I have tried with other jobs however it's hard having a job at uni anyway, there always seems to be a problem haha!

I promise it is possible as I've always had a job at uni but the majority of the problems I've had were when I was working at the coop as they didn't seem to care as much as my other jobs in small pubs or things like that
