I'm undecided on what I want to do, graphic design or film. Because of this I don't really want to dive into uni spending 9 grand a year when I'm uncertain. Are there any alternatives to University, job wise for a graphic designer/film maker?

GD doesn't generally have apprenticeships tbh - because most GD companies are small or solo efforts there's not the infrastructure to support that. That doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to find anything but with GD a degree isn't required regardless - all jobs are going to be based on your portfolio. A degree is just one way to build up a portfolio.
