My head of year predicted me a AAA based on my GCSE’s - however why? I know it indicates your overall performance but things change , can they predict you higher based on your mocks? I really need an A*A*A prediction by the end of year 12 .

I'm guessing you just entered year 12, in which case the only solid evidence of academic attainment is your gcses.
The way it worked in my school is that you get predicted grades based on your GCSEs which you are expected to get, but the ones which go on your UCAS statement for uni is based 90% off of your As levels. so you shouldn't be too concerned about your predicted rn.

They can and will predict you higher - that it average attainment based on your GCSEs. Don't worry about it for now, just show your teachers that you work really hard, do as well as you can in all tests you're given across the year, and smash your mocks and you will have higher predicteds.

However, if it turns out you can't make those (very high) grades, then don't expect to be predicted them just because you need them doesn't mean you will get them, so while your predictions based on your GCSEs aren't really accurate, you really need to work hard to get such high predicted grades.

Get good results at the end of Y12, then you should be predicted whatever you want. Get high A's at the end of Y12 in all 3 subjects.

You can easily be predicted way above your predicted grades, especially if you do well in your exams.

My predictions were 3 D's because I wasnt serious in my GCSE'S. Now im predicted A*AB/A*A*B applying to uni.

They’ll be predicted those now as AS’ are only marked up to an A, so next year once you’ve done AS or mock exams and they see you are performing well then I’m sure they’ll change them later on.

You'll still have end of year exams that will determine your A-Level grades.

I think you will find these are target grades not predictions. The school probably uses something like ALIS to generate these.

Don't worry about it - just work hard and get good grades at the end of Year 12 and your predictions will be what you want
