    Interesting, knew about some of these but not all.

    Though the reasons why none prior to 1917 really took off - the powers issuing them didn't actually control the territory. The only partial exception to this would be Napoleon, but even he only held Palestine for a year or so, plus at that point nationalism was still a very new idea, so the idea of a Jewish nation-state wouldn't have resonated as much.

    No doubts if WW1 had ended without Britain occupying Palestine, the Balfour Declaration would have gone the same way as all the others.
