    Nah.

But why Durham out of interest? I mean, rankings should always be taken with a pinch of salt... but UCL is streaks ahead in the Humanities.

World Uni rankings are often highly unreliable. I read an article a few years back in the Times saying that 'Durham is a leader in the humanities' so that's where I got that impression from.

All rankings are unreliable, period. THE is no worse than any other.

Okay then - at least I had two right!

    How about:

    Imperial for S.T.E.M.
    LSE for Social Sciences
    UCL for Humanities

    Is this more accurate?

I dont know much about Durham but the other 2 appear to be strong in both fields.

The issue is that people will disagree with your assertion and throw rankings at you to proof why another university might be it.

I would also add that, including LSE and Imperial, some other universities are very strong in overall aspects such as UCL, Kings College London, Edinburgh, Manchester and of course Oxford plus Cambridge.

I do agree with your post though.

Imperial is better for STEM than oxbridge in my opinion.

Great point - it's just so subjective! Yeah, I agree that perhaps asking by faculty was an odd way about it. All of those Universities probably have particularly strong departments within their Faculties.

Still no (you realise STEM isn't a faculty, right?)

How can you talk about people throwing rankings when you use that as the sole reason and made up the uk ivy league

    True.

International rankings have a hard on for London unis and don't rate Durham as highly as what it can be compared to. Durham is a great uni which people in the UK know is just a step behind Oxbridge. It's also a great all rounder, but really great in things like history or natural sciences.

I don't know why everyone is disagreeing strongly with Durham's humanities. It is arguably better than Oxbridge for both English and History.

However, I would probably say overall it's:
    1. Oxbridge
    2. LSE, Imperial, UCL
    3. Durham, St Andrews
