Im on a student placement (im studying physio) and basically theres things I dont know. I assessed something wrong yesterday and although im enjoying the placement i dont think im making a good impression. I heard my supervisor discussing with another staff that id assessed somthing wrong and it made me worried about my progress. I asked my mentor later if im at the stage i should be and she said that when qualified its not unreasonable to expect someone to select the right assessment and diagnose etc. Im not qualifed yet but in my final year. I asked her if i could practice it at some point and she frowned, looked serious and said 'did you not do that in uni'. I honestly cant remember practicing this stuff in uni. I did prepare for the placement by reading around what i knew but it obviously wasnt enough.
I feel ive displayed elements of incompetance throughout my training so am a little worried. I tend to forget things easily i mean the last 2 years at uni just seem like a blur. Ive never felt as good as everyone else and in most aspects of my life im not.

They don’t put you on placements to get you to carry out the job like a fully qualified and competent physiotherapist. It is for YOU to GROW and LEARN. If you already knew it all then there would be no point in doing the course at all!
Just learn from your mistakes the best that you can, no one is perfect and people still mess things up from time to time even after years of experience. Don’t be so hard on yourself x

And also the fact that you are so conscientious and concerned about it tells me that you are doing a lot better than you may think!
