In British pharmacopeia the assay for paracetamol, the titrant use in BP 1996 is ammonium and cerium sulfate but in BP 2016 only cerium sulfate is used. Why did they take out the ammonium?

The ammonium ion only serves as a spectator ion, with no function. Hence, it is not necessary to use ammonium and cerium sulphate.
