He is moving out from my mum's house the next few weeks almost three years after I did, so he can be closer to his place of work, and thus cut down on travel costs.

When I moved out, within a week, I got congratulations cards and gifts like sweets etc.

What would you say would be the best gift for me to get for him without spending lots of money?

Funny that, as his new home will be a 10/15 minutes drive away from a Waitrose.

    I'll definitely consider those suggestions.

A good idea would be a survival basket, filled with things what people need for living in a flat. A voucher for supermarkets is also a good idea to help him to go his own way. The best way to congratulate him for his decision and step to live for his own is to hug him.
