It really depends on what course you're looking to do!

Really depends. My A-level timetable has 4 periods of 90 minutes each day, with a 45-minute lunch break in the middle and 15-minute breaks in between each period. In total, each week I have:

12 lesson periods (3 per subject)
    1 tutor period
    7 study/free periods

Of course, this varies between colleges. I have friends who go to a college with 5 lessons per subject per week and periods of only 55 minutes per week.
