I'm applying for French and Beginner's Russian at Brasenose and I'm just in the process of editing my written work for submission, which needs to be scanned in by the 10th November.

I need to submit a French essay, and an English essay, both of which I have written. However, I am in a bit of a pickle in terms of the required length of my essays, in that the Oxford website states the following:
French: the essay is 'normally a few hundred words in length'
There is no specified length for the English essay on the official website, but I've heard that it needs to be less than 2000 words and I don't want to exceed this if that's the case!
Both of my essays are currently way over these limits so I will need to cut them down, but don't want to cut up my essays if these limits don't actually exist...

Also, the website states that I can either type or handwrite my essays, but as they are quite lengthy I am not sure what to do...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thank you

Hi, I applied for history and politics and the work I submitted had a word limit of 2000 words, I had to submit an extract of my overall essay.
