Okay so im in year 11 I will be taking my gcses in the summer of 2018. The thing is, when I was in year 9 I took a community language that I was fluent-ish in. So I decided to give the gcse a go (in year 9). Also that year I had to pick my gcses, and the teachers and my mum encouraged me to pick a language. Im awful at languages and because I was uncertain on whether or not I was going to pass my own language gcse that year, I chose Spanish as a gcse (something that I have regretted since). Long story short, I ended up getting an a in my own language and basically picked Spanish for no reason. I think im going to fail Spanish because my memory is really bad and I can't remember key vocab and ALL of the tenses, so does my community gcse still count as a language gcse? I heard that as its a community gcse it won't count as an actual gcse they give you in schools like French or German. So if I end up getting good in all of my other options but my Spanish I fail, can I still show my community language as a language? will the college mind?

Yes, it does count as a GCSE provided it is a GCSE you sat and not some other qualification.

It doesn't matter whether you have a GCSE in a language anyway. A good grade in any subject is a plus

Thats reassuring, thank you! I felt so pressured into picking Spanish because my school kept saying how it looks better and universities want a language. Now I feel like it was a waste of a gcse and I could have picked something else I knew I would get an A in :/
