Recently i have heard a lot of revelation about how Russia funded online propaganda influenced the 2016 US election (and also some about brexit referendum)

My personal opinion is none of these propaganda would have succeeded if there weren't accomplice (farage / bannon / mercer / fox news) so you can't blame it all on Russia alone. Plus the US have the first amendment that should protect speeches even if we dont agree with them.

    Whats your view?

Oh God. You need to start with asking what propaganda is. Do you see propaganda every time you turn on the BBC news?

Does propaganda just mean “political statements that I don’t like”?

Isn’t the correct question “what are the ethics of people in one country spending money or using Facebook memes to use the internet to campaign politically in another country’s election.” I am not sure there is even a definition because the internet is relative new, and internet mass politics is even newer.
