I want to create a group on facebook for people in the area I used to live to get together share news and talk about the area in general. I have noticed there is no large groups doing this already just a couple of buy and sell groups which aren't the same thing and one group that has less than 200 members.

I currently live in a different area and joined their facebook group and it has like 5,000 members. So, I would love to do one on this scale.

Problem is I don't want anybody to know it's me making the group just in case it goes pear shaped.

    Can I hide this?

    Thanks, Peeps

I don’t know if you could hide it but it sounds like a really good idea and I wish there were one for my own area. My advice would be to make a fake account and set it up that way! Then as time goes on make yourself an admin and take over?

    That's a brill idea, thanks.

Should I use a fake name? Any suggestions on how I go about 'creating' an identity lol

Yeah go for a fake name. Just go to a google name generator if you struggle lol. You could also add a picture of some dusky sky or a random dog as the profile picture if you didn’t want to use the picture of a real person- this seems to be very commonplace on Facebook nowadays!

Yeah I noticed that too, a lot of people use pets as profile pictures so I will probably do that, don't really want to get caught using a fake pic lol
