Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place but I really don't know who to ask! If it should be moved please tell me where and I'll repost.

My cat was missing since yesterday and after searching the entire village (including a wood which was great fun) I found her with a hurt foot at the end of my garden.

I need to take her to the vets. She is insured, however, its Sunday so Petplan wont be able to pay the vets today; we'd have to pay it and then claim it back.

It might be a thousand pounds if she must stay in. I have £13 in my bank account and my mum has £40 and in our savings together there is only £300 and we don't really have any family who can help us in this country either... We aren't on benefits so we can't get an emergency RSPCA vet for free.

Does anyone know what we can do? Any ideas would be appreciated!

I had a look on all the helplines and unsurprisingly they are all closed until 9am tomorrow..
I am surprised they wouldnt give you basic advice or petplan didnt have a 24 hour number. Well done for having insurance. You can make a claim at 8am tomorrow.

Not a vet so id look for either guides, depending what injury you think it is or ask on other forums. cat ones. You only say its injured and not a lot more, but there are plenty of basic first aid guides online. Ive read a few and they just seem common sense, but arent very detailed.

    These looked the most promising.

    There are other forums

Post an update on the outcome. Hope kitty is ok.

Read your petplan policy so you know exactly how to make a claim and have all the info at hand.

I hope tI hope petplan agreed to pay and the car is in care and ok?

You would have thought they had some sort of facility to deal with claims on a Sunday.

Thank you so much for your help and caring! I used the first aid guide to make sure she was okay and posted on a cat forum where I got some advice! We got her medicated at home last night with some painkiller that we got for a recent injury (we called the vets first, naturally!) and I've just got back from the vets.

Unfortunately it may be nerve damage in her left hind leg. The good news is that she isn't paralyzed as her tail and other hind leg are both fine and she has some feeling in her left foot! (also, it seems that theres nothing wrong with her digestive system... boy, I've never been to happy to change a litter tray! )

Shes had her medicine and we've given her a nice cozy little annex to sleep in as she's feeling insecure. Tomorrow she goes back in for XRay just in case its a break but like otherwise she's going to go for an MRI, fingers crossed!

Thanks so much for your help man it really means a lot!

Hey thanks for getting back and giving an update. I was worried about its distress and didnt know whether it might make the night. the condition was a mystery, so I thought it might have been hit by a car or something similar.

    Vg job having insurance.

Lots of the first aid advice.was rubbish and sales pitchy but I thought the ones I posted were the most informative I could find plus cat forums can be handy if there's anyone around as they will have had similar. I didnt have a real idea if the injury and forums arent very two way.

If she isnt paralysed then fingers crossed if she can recover from the nerve damage otherwise she might be lame? Fingers crossed anyway. Obviously mist be a lot of shock for her, but hopefully she will recover and it could have been a lot worse. Hope it all goes well.

    What do you think happened?
    How did you find her?
