I bought COD WWII on steam today, downloaded it and the lag is brutal. I assumed call of duty was generally easy to run but it doesnt look like it. The 'recommended requirements' states 12gb of RAM

    My specs are:

    X4 860K (overclocked to 4.2ghz)
    8GB RAM 1866mhz
    Rx 460 2gb (stock)

If i add another 8 gigs of memory this improve the performance, or is it my cpu?

RAM probably isn't the thing holding you back. Most games nowadays only really need 8. I can't really see any other problem than that your CPU is an older Athlon.

Could be optimizatiom problems - since the recommended is 12gb i'll upgrade soon

Your GPU is being bottlenecked by your CPU big time tbh. Your GPU is better than mine, but my CPU is newer than yours, and I can run the game smooth as silk on high settings. I'm on 12GB RAM but I don't see 4GB of RAM being the difference between smooth performance and the game running like dog chod if everything else is up to scratch. Time for a CPU upgrade, I reckon, which will likely mean a mobo upgrade also, unfortunately.
