    Hello SFE

I have already decided to defer entry to my uni to next year. I still haven't got around to cancelling my application for the funding for this year. The online account says that I have to call in to SFE to cancel it. I did, but I was told that it has to be done via the Change of Circumstance form found on the online account. Is this definitely the only way of cancelling it?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Joel.

If the start date of the course year has passed and the application is 'Approved' we can accept a letter from the student requesting the application be cancelled. This can only be done when we haven't received confirmation of registration and/or attendance and therefore no payments have been released.

In some cases, the university or college can send us a 'Not in Attendance Withdrawal' which would effectively cancel the application. Not every university or college will do this though.

If the application has never been approved the student should use their online student finance account to cancel the application. Depending on the status of the application the student may be able to cancel the application online.

If unable to cancel online the student would be prompted to follow a link to the change of circumstances form.

    Regards,

    Stuart
