Say if we get a question for example saying, "Look at this extract, how does shakespeare present Lady Macbeth as dominant" And I just usually write willy nilly with no real direction of what I should be aiming for, My response will usually be something along the lines of "Shakespeare shows Lady Macbeth as dominant because" then I would include a quote but my actual explanation is terrible, I can't really depict what the extract has to offer. Also when revising it's quite hard, I will revise Macbeth and learn a lot about the play. But when it come's to writing I don't really know what to revise about writing to get me marks, and I usually mess up as I don't write what I'm meant to write even though I have the knowledge. Yet I excel in maths and science as when it comes to revision it's quite clear what your supposed to revise, and there is always an answer to a question, yet with english lit there is always possibility when it comes to writing, anyone's thoughts?

you need to practice exam questions at home- look at the mark scheme and try to memorise it for exams. but english lit is mainly practice practice of exam technique. mrbruff is a youtube channel and he's great for english lit- he goes through questions and guides you on how to structure the perfect answer- highly recommend if you need some extra help
