I may sound stupid here, but isn’t the higher paper easier to get a C in - in comparison to the foundation paper, as you need less marks to get a pass in higher?

I know the higher paper is harder than the foundation, obviously, but you could work at the same rate as the foundation aiming for full marks as you would on the higher paper and manage to still scrape a C?

Interesting question. I don't know the answer myself, so I'll be sticking around until someone answers.

Its definitely easier to get a C in higher because of the low grade boundaries. I think in the summer, you needed at least 17% just to get a 4 in higher whilst you need at least 52% in foundation to get a 4. The paper can be a complete mystery to you and you can still come out with a pass grade.
