I sat the OCR Psychology exams so not sure how different they are to AQA but assuming they contain similar material, I would say that memory plays a huge role in attaining good marks. You need to learn the studies (if not all) like the back of your hand and understand them really well. I had multiple A3 sheets with all the notes relating to the studies or other topics and read them over and over. As with any exam prep, you also have to revise over the past exam questions but importantly you should practise your writing style to get your point across concisely and show that you have thorough understanding of what they're asking. My teacher was amazing and she would make us practise our essay writing skills.
